Artist Information
Inspired by the intricate detail present in the natural forms of flora and fauna, along with my passion for the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, recognised for their organic form and stylised design, my art is a reflection of all these influences.
I originally worked in watercolour and pastels creating delicate miniature botanical paintings of insects and flowers, often painting directly onto silk, much like the Japanese.
Today, I enjoy creating detailed and innovative mosaics and collages, using traditional and contemporary methods. I am currently studying techniques in creating stained glass fused glass and painted glass, inspired by the great works of Rene Lalique and Louis Comfort Tiffany. I use the finest quality glass, including Venetian, iridised, mirror and dichroic glass. I often include semi-precious minerals and ceramic elements into my work. My creations are unique, completely original and are never replicated. I specialize in interior art although some items can be made suitable for exterior display depending on location.
People who like my art will not be surprised to often see a dragonfly adorning my work. I have always been intrigued by the wonderful colours associated with dragonflies and damselflies, hence my dragonfly motif, which is instantly recognisable to those people who collect my work, which is mostly, invested into private collections, both in the United Kingdom and as far away as Japan. Other work is commissioned by organisations such as Local Authorities, Railways, Schools and Academies.
